LIFE (Lighthouse International Fellowship)
exists to meet needs of internationals:
Friendship to the "Stranger."
We believe that each international student, immigrant and resident should
receive help in adjusting to the American culture and have the opportunity
to develop friendships with moral Americans (Luke 10:29-37; Acts 16:13-15).
Teaching and training in "Biblical Truth."
We believe Christians and non-Christians should have the opportunity to study
Christianity and the claims of Jesus Christ in a loving and non-confrontational
atmosphere. We believe the Bible is God's Word. God the Holy Spirit so moved
and controlled the authors that their writing is the very Word of God, infallible
and without error, and sufficient for all our needs (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Small
group and individual Bible studies are scheduled.
A challenge to "Outreach" to the ends of the earth.
We believe the greatest need of each person is to understand his or her separation
from God because of their sin (Romans 3:23); to understand the ultimate penalty
for their sin is eternal spiritual death, separation from God forever in a
place of punishment (Romans 6:23); to realize and acknowledge that God has
loved them so much that He has paid the penalty of sin for them through the
shedding of blood and death of His own Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross (John
3:16; Romans 5:8); and to receive the free gift of eternal life by faith alone
in Jesus' sacrifice for them (Romans 6:23; 10:13; Ephesians 2:8-9).
The New Testament basis for "Fellowship."
We believe that brothers and sister in Christ need to gather together for
times of spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical refreshment, recreation
and interaction. We teach and practice the important areas of worship, praise
and prayer in the local body of believers. We believe God's chosen instrument
of authority and ministry is the local church and it is in the local church
that we find the deepest fellowship (Hebrews 10:24-25). Non-Christians will
have the opportunity to observe the love of God in action in the daily life
of the family of Christ
.
Opportunity of "Service."
We believe that every Christian has been specifically equipped by the Holy
Spirit to function in and through the local church in the exercise of spiritual
gifts to build up the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12; Ephesians 4:11-16).
Hi is not the ministry of Campus Baptist Church to internationals but it is
an avenue of ministry for internationals to minister in and through the local
church to internationals and the community. Hi provides opportunity to internationals
to develop leadership and be trained in ministry skills to minister to the
needs of fellow believers and to the unchurched here in Ames and in home countries
or wherever God will lead in the future. |
